What's included

One table, one truth.

Behind the map is a single long table: area, level, year, measure and value. It is already cleaned, so you don't have to do the work yourself.

  1. 1Every levelCounty, municipality, RegSO and DeSO with the same codes everywhere, so you can move up and down between the levels.
  2. 2Time seriesHistory recalculated to today's area boundaries, so the years can be compared directly.
  3. 3CheckedSub-areas add up to the whole, and a missing value never becomes a zero.
  4. 4Source per measureEvery measure has its source, licence and date, the same as on Data sources.
How it works

One call per question.

Ask for one measure across all areas, or for an address to get everything about the area there. The interface below is planned and may change before launch.

GET /api/v1/data/varden?matt=medianinkomst&niva=deso&ar=2024 Authorization: Bearer <your key> GET /api/v1/data/omrade?adress=Storgatan+1,+Umeå
{ "omrade": { "niva": "deso", "kod": "2480C1010", "kommun": "Umeå" }, "ar": 2024, "matt": [ { "id": "medianinkomst", "varde": 312400, "enhet": "kr", "kalla": "SCB", "licens": "CC0" } ] }
Terms

You pay for the convenience, not for the data.

The data comes from open sources and is as free with us as at the source. What you pay for in the API is not having to do the work: fetching, cleaning, shared codes, updates and address lookup. Credit the source when you use the data. Layers built on OpenStreetMap are kept separate and shared on the same terms as the ODbL.

What we ourselves count about visits to the site is openly shown at Visit data.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about the API.

Why is there a limit on free downloads?

To keep the site fast for everyone. Ten downloads an hour is enough for most people; if you need more, the API is a better fit.

When does the API open?

We are building it now. Register interest and you will be the first to know, and do tell us what you want to use the data for.

May I pass the data on?

Yes, under the source's licence. Most of it is CC0 or CC BY, which means free to use with the source credited. See the licence per measure on Data sources.
