Söderby

Söderby is a town in Ekerö municipality in Uppland with about 300 residents. The town contains Söderby gård, a manor with origins in the fourteenth century. The main building with its wings dates from a later period and is preserved, as is the great avenue leading up to the manor. The orchard is largely intact. The municipality's main town is half an hour away by car and Stockholm an hour.

Forest, farmland and a larger road lie right next to most houses. Water is within walking distance but not close, and Bonaviks naturreservat and a swimming spot are a bike ride or drive away. Grocery shop, school and church are also a bike ride or drive away, and Munsö kyrka and Munsö skola are the nearest. Industry, railway, railway station and petrol station require a car. Several contaminated sites are registered in the town, and there are two ferry terminals in the area.

The neighbouring town Ekeby tomtområde is within walking distance but not close, Lilla Norrby and Lilla Stenby are a bike ride or drive away, and Kungsberga, with just over eight hundred residents, is also a bike ride or drive away.

The area around the town is a mixture: a little over a quarter are between twenty and forty-four, just under a quarter are under twenty and a fifth are over sixty-five. The median income in the municipality is high, and a large share have post-secondary education.

Söderby suits someone who wants to live in the countryside with a manor and nature reserve round the corner and has a car for the shop and school. Anyone who wants a train or a shop within walking distance will have to look elsewhere.
