Ölsta

Ölsta is a town in Ekerö municipality in Stockholm county, with just over 700 inhabitants, on northern Färingsö in Mälaren. The town has the municipality's only remaining Folkets Hus and park. The water is a couple of minutes' walk away, the woodland is right next to many houses and the plots are large.

Everyday life requires a bicycle or car. The grocery shop, Coop Kungsberga, is a few kilometres away for an ordinary property, but the neighbouring place Kungsberga is under a kilometre away. There is also a pizzeria and grill kiosk there. The school, Färentuna skola, is likewise a bicycle or car ride away. In the town there is Ölsta Café, and in the area Färentuna hembygdsgård, Hilleshögs kyrka, Färentuna kyrka and a market garden. Twenty-four ground contaminations are registered in the town, the nearest across the road from the middle. A power line is within walking distance but not close.

By car it takes about half an hour to the municipality's main town and just under an hour to Stockholm. The area around the town has a mixed age distribution: a quarter are under twenty and a fifth are over sixty-five.

Ölsta suits someone who wants to live in the countryside near Mälaren with Stockholm within commuting distance, but not someone who wants to walk to the shop.
