About the place

Living here

Fågelvik, Brunn och Fagerholm is a built-up area on Ingarö in Värmdö municipality in Uppland, with just over 4,200 inhabitants. Most houses lie right next to a major road, and the sea is only a couple of minutes' walk away. Several smaller lakes such as Fiskmyran, Vidsjön and Återvallsträsket are within walking distance but not close. To the grocery store it is more a matter of bike or car, while the school is within walking distance but not close.

There is a local range around Ingarö: a couple of cafés, a handful of preschools and schools, among them Fågelvik Skola and Brunns skola, a pizzeria, a couple of restaurants and a sports ground. Ingarö kyrka, a campsite and a tennis and padel facility are also within reach. Anyone who wants a wider range of grocery stores, entertainment or shopping has to go to Gustavsberg or on towards Stockholm.

The nature around the town is tangible, with a nature reserve close by and bedrock that in several places is prone to radon. About fifteen registered soil contaminations are also in the town.

To Gustavsberg it takes half an hour by car, to Stockholm three quarters of an hour. The area around the town has almost a third of its residents aged 45 to 64 and about a quarter under 20.

Värmdö as a whole is among the economically stronger municipalities in the country, with a high median income, a high level of education and low unemployment. One exception is employment among young adults, which is below the national average.

Fågelvik, Brunn och Fagerholm suits someone who wants life in a house near water and forest with Gustavsberg and Stockholm within commuting distance, but who does not need a broad range around the corner. Anyone who wants to manage without a car should expect it to be difficult.
