Living here
Ramvik is a small town in Härnösand municipality in Ångermanland, with around four hundred and eight inhabitants by Ångermanälven near Högakustenbron. National road 90 and Ådalsbanan pass through the town. The prime minister Thorbjörn Fälldin came from the area and lived there until his death. Härnösand is half an hour away by car and Stockholm six hours.
Everyday life is simple but not empty. The grocery shop Handlar'n Hälledal is a couple of minutes' walk from most people, and there is a school in the town. The restaurant is within walking distance but not close. The church is at a bike or car distance, and a café and a railway station are far away and require a car. The river is a couple of minutes' walk away for most people, and the lake Mörtsjön is within walking distance but not close. Nearby there are Ramvik Folkets hus as a venue for associations, Torsvalla idrottsplats and Arnolds Bilmuseum.
The area around the town is much older than the country as a whole: one in three inhabitants is over sixty-five and about one in six is under twenty.
Ramvik suits someone who wants to live by the river with a shop and a school close by and has a car for most things. Someone who wants to commute by train or have a wide range of services will have to count on long distances.
