Insjön is a built-up area in Leksand municipality in Dalarna, with just over 2,100 inhabitants. It lies about ten kilometres south-east of Leksand, is crossed by road 70 and by the Dalabanan railway, and is known as the place where Clas Ohlson has its roots, with both a shop and a small museum.
Most people live right next to a main road. The grocery shop is within walking distance but not close, and there are Hemköp and ICA Nära. The railway station and the school are also within walking distance but not close. The railway runs a couple of minutes' walk from many houses, and industry is nearby. There is a bakery, a pharmacy, a bank, a couple of hotels, several restaurants and shops such as JYSK, Lundhags factory outlet and a sports shop. A riding club and Equmenia are part of the association life.
Around the houses there is both farmland and forest, and the lake Insjön is a short walk away. A nature reserve is also within walking distance but not close. About fifteen registered soil contaminations are found in the town.
It takes about a quarter of an hour by car to Leksand, and three and a half hours to Stockholm. The area around the town has just over a quarter over sixty-five.
