Kovikshamn och Åkerhög

Kovikshamn och Åkerhög is a built-up area in Bohuslän with almost 700 inhabitants, in Kungälv municipality. Kovikshamn lies in Torsby parish on the coast of Västerhavet, just north of the mouth of Nordre älv and about six kilometres west of Kärna. By car it takes half an hour to Kungälv and three quarters of an hour to Göteborg.

The sea is a couple of minutes' walk from most houses, and the forest and fields are also very close. The plots are spacious, around 1,200 square metres. Food shop and school are far away, five kilometres or more for most, so daily life requires a car. The railway station is over ten kilometres away. The nearest bathing place is within walking distance but not close, and outdoor recreation areas and a hiking trail are also within reach. Within three kilometres there are Teater Tofta, a playground and the nature reserves Hållsungamyrens and Tofta. Three contaminated sites are registered in the town, about a kilometre from the centre.

The area around the town has an older age profile: just under a third are aged forty-five to sixty-four and just over a quarter are over sixty-five. The town suits those who want to live near the sea with plenty of air around the house and drive to most things, and suits less those who want services within walking distance.
