Living here
Asperö is an island and a built-up area in Göteborg's southern archipelago, in Styrsö parish, with around four hundred and four inhabitants on an area just under one square kilometre. Göteborg is a few kilometres away across the water, and the boat is what ties the island to the city.
The school is a couple of minutes' walk from the centre of the town, and Asperöskolan is in the town. Most other things are on the neighbouring island of Brännö, which is within walking distance but not close across the sound: two grocery shops, an inn with a bakery, two cafés, two restaurants, a church, a bookshop and the museum Brännö Lagård. The restaurants and cafés are within walking distance but not close from Asperö, and the church a little further away. The football pitch in Vassdal, three playgrounds and several viewpoints are part of the surroundings. The fire station is also on Brännö. Six ferry landings are within a few kilometres, and they are used to get to the mainland.
The area around the town is older than average: about one in three inhabitants is over sixty-five years old, while just under one in four is under twenty.
Asperö suits someone who wants to live on a small island with a school close by and who is used to everything going by ferry. Someone who wants a car, a large shop or late evening life will have to look on the mainland.
