Stoby is a built-up area in Hässleholm municipality in Skåne, with about seven hundred and fifty inhabitants, and the church village of Stoby parish. Stoby kyrka is here. In 1967 the hypermarket Besto opened, whose name came from Berntsson and Stoby, but it was sold to Ica in 1975.
The town lies close to Hässleholm, and that shows in the range within three kilometres: Lidl, Inter Mat, Biltema, Elgiganten, JYSK, Nordic Wellness, Burger King, Vårdcentral Solbrinken and a vet. There are also a couple of preschools, Gårdsmygens förskola and Lyckoklöverns förskola, and two schools, Stoby skola and Ljungdalaskolan. Stoby skola is a couple of minutes' walk away. The grocery shop is a bike or car ride for most people, and the railway station likewise, while industry and a power line are within cycling distance or closer. Three swimming pools and three petrol stations, among them St1, are in the area.
The neighbouring town of Hässleholm is within walking distance but not close, and Ballingslöv and Vankiva within cycling or driving distance. To the municipality's main town it takes a quarter of an hour by car, to Malmö an hour and a half and to Göteborg three hours.
The area around the town has an even age distribution, with between one in four and three in ten in each group under sixty-five and one in five over. Stoby suits someone who wants Hässleholm's range nearby and a school within walking distance, but not someone who wants a quiet village.
