Billinge

Billinge is a built-up area and church village in Billinge parish in Eslöv municipality in Skåne, with just under four hundred and fifty inhabitants. Eslöv is a quarter of an hour away by car, Malmö three quarters of an hour and Göteborg three hours.

Everyday life requires a car. There is no grocery shop within three kilometres, and most people live about five kilometres from the nearest shop and just over eight from the railway station. What is nearby is two bakeries, Billinge bageri och konditori and Fricks Spettkaksbageri, a preschool, two playgrounds and the school, which is within walking distance but not close. Billinge kyrka is just under a kilometre away, Gamlegård hembygdsmuseum is nearby and the park Billingemölla is within three kilometres.

Farmland runs right up to most houses, and forest is close by. Water is within walking distance but not close, and Västra Ringsjön is nine kilometres away. Three contaminated sites are registered in the town, the nearest very close. The pensioners' association PRO Billinge-Stockamöllan is what is visible of associational life, and the neighbouring town Stockamöllan is just under three kilometres away.

The surrounding area has an even age distribution: just under a quarter are under twenty and a fifth over sixty-five. Eslöv municipality has unemployment of around six per cent.

Billinge suits someone who wants to live in the Skåne countryside with Malmö within commuting distance and has a car for everything except the school and the bakery.
