Living here
Höllviken och Ljunghusen is a built-up area in Vellinge municipality in south-western Skåne, with just over 15,000 inhabitants. Until 2015, Höllviken and Ljunghusen, west of the canal, were two separate built-up areas before they were merged into one.
Most people live within walking distance but not right next to both grocery shops and schools, and there is no railway station nearby at all, so reaching one requires a car. A main road runs right next to the houses. The town has Biohuset Höllviken, Höllvikens bibliotek, a handful of grocery shops and several restaurants and bars, among them Millennium and Peters pub. A nature reserve and a bathing spot are within walking distance, but the coastal strip also has a marked erosion risk at a similar distance, not right at the door but not far away either.
The most expensive addresses in the municipality
Östra Höllviken and Ljunghusen are among the most expensive addresses in all of Vellinge municipality, clearly above the municipality's already high median income, while the share with tight finances is among the lowest there is. The neighbouring town of Skanör with Falsterbo is a little way off by car, and it takes a quarter of an hour by car to Vellinge, the municipality's main town. It takes half an hour to Malmö and around three and a half hours to Gothenburg.
In the area around the town, just under a quarter of the inhabitants are over 65, and the share aged twenty to forty-four is small. Within a couple of kilometres there are museums such as Bärnstensmuseet and Fotevikens museum.
Höllviken och Ljunghusen suits those who want the sea, villa living and a well-off neighbourhood with Malmö within commuting distance. Those looking for a cheaper housing market should look elsewhere.
