Anderstorp

Anderstorp lies in Småland, about five kilometres south-east of Gislaved, with the stream Anderstorpaån running through the town on its way to Nissan. Just over 5,000 inhabitants live here, in Gislaved municipality.

Daily life is simple but works. Most people live within walking distance but not close to a food shop, while the school is a couple of minutes' walk away and the main road across the street. The town has two food shops, a library and a couple of churches, but there is neither a restaurant nor a café in Anderstorp, the nearest are some way off by car. The railway station is also far away, which makes the car a must for anyone who needs to get somewhere quickly.

Associational life shows all the more in the sports halls, several of them in the town, among them Anderstorp Raceway. There is also a riding club together with Gislaved, a scout group and a pensioners' association.

Nature is close in several places, with the forest across the street from many houses, while the lake Bråarpasjön is within walking distance but not close. More than a hundred known contaminated areas are registered in the town.

By car it takes a quarter of an hour to Gislaved, three hours to Malmö, an hour and three quarters to Gothenburg and five hours to Stockholm. The neighbouring town of Gnosjö lies some way off by car.

In the area around Anderstorp the age distribution is even, with a slightly higher share of middle-aged people. Economically Anderstorp östra stands out as one of the most prosperous parts of the municipality, with a high median income and among the lowest shares with tight finances, and Anderstorp together with Hestra is among the most highly educated parts of the municipality.

Anderstorp suits those who want to live calmly with associational life and nature close by, but requires that you have a car and are not dependent on public transport or a broad offering locally.
