Aneby

Aneby lies on the Småland highlands in Småland, between Eksjö and Tranås, and is the main locality of Aneby municipality with just under 3,700 inhabitants. About half of the municipality's population lives here, in a small municipality in Jönköping county.

Daily life fits within the built-up area but is limited. Most people live within walking distance but not close to both a grocery shop and the school, and a main road runs across the road from many houses. Two grocery shops, ICA and Coop, cover the necessities. Eating out is more of an outing than an everyday choice. There is a café in the locality, while there is really only one dedicated place to eat in the whole municipality, the inn in Sunhult out in the countryside. A library, fire station, police and hotel are not in the locality itself but a bit away by car, as are a swimming pool and recycling.

Nature is close in several places, with the forest across the road from most houses. Lakes such as Anebysjön and Skärsjösjön can be reached by bike or car, and around them there are nature reserves and parks such as Hyllingens and Furulids naturreservat. The train stops in Aneby, which makes commuting possible, but if you live outside the built-up area a car is a must.

By car it takes about four hours to both Stockholm and Malmö, and two and a half hours to Göteborg.

In the area around Aneby the age distribution is even, with a slightly higher share of young people. Association life is small but exists, with a scout corps, a pensioners' association and the municipal building as a meeting place.

Aneby suits someone who is looking for small scale and calm and can manage with a limited range. Someone who wants city life and more choice would do better to look towards Tranås or Nässjö.
