Living here
Horn is a town with 454 inhabitants in Kinda municipality in Östergötland, the church village of Horn parish. The community lies at one of the southern tips of the lake Åsunden, a couple of minutes' walk from the water, and is one of the end destinations of Kinda kanal. Most houses lie right next to a major road.
Everyday life is close. A café, a church and a library are a couple of minutes' walk from the centre, and a restaurant, ICA Nära and a bank are also there. A fire station is a couple of minutes' walk from the centre, but to the school it is a car ride for most people. Hornabergs camping and a bathing spot are near the water, and a hiking trail runs a couple of minutes' walk away. The ground carries traces of earlier activity: about fifteen registered soil contamination sites are found in the town, the nearest across the road, and a known flood risk is a bicycle or car ride away. To the railway station you need a car, over ten kilometres.
Kisa, with just under four thousand inhabitants, is half an hour away by car. To Stockholm it takes three and a half hours, to Göteborg four hours and to Malmö five. The surrounding area is older: four in ten are over sixty-five and only one in seven is under twenty.
Horn suits someone who wants to live by Åsunden in a small town with a shop and café nearby, but not someone who wants a train or a big-city selection within reach.
