Tranvik, Lugnet och Brohägnaden are three built-up areas that have grown together in Norrtälje municipality, in Uppland north of Stockholm, with 493 inhabitants in total. Brohägnaden lies north-east of Rimbo in Rimbo socken by county road 280 and was counted as a small locality of its own until 2023, when it was merged with Tranvik and Lugnet into one built-up area.
Most houses have forest and fields right next to them, while the sea is a couple of minutes' walk away and industry a bike or car ride away. A school and two swimming facilities are walking distance but not close from the centre.
Rimbo, a considerably larger town with a little over 5,000 inhabitants, is walking distance but not close and gives access to a wide selection: several food shops such as Coop and ICA Supermarket, a handful of restaurants, a health centre, a pharmacy, a library and a church. Holmen, Asplund and Finnby are reached by bike or car.
Lilla Gransjön is walking distance but not close, while Stora Gransjön, Kundbysjön and the large lake Långsjön are reached by bike or car. It takes half an hour by car to Norrtälje and an hour to Stockholm.
The area around has many people of working age, and a fifth are over sixty-five. The town suits someone who wants to live in the countryside but with Rimbo's full services within cycling distance.
