There are grocery shops in both Forshaga and Deje, a pharmacy, a health centre, a library in both towns and a cinema, plus a handful of restaurants and pizzerias. For exercise there are several sports halls, an ice rink, a small ski slope in Deje and plenty of sports grounds. Around it lie forest, river and nature reserves, and several local heritage and timber-floating museums bear witness to the history of timber on the river.
