The differences within the municipality are nonetheless clear. In Tidaholm centrum the median income is around SEK 308,000 and one in five residents has a low standard of living, while Tidaholm östra sits at SEK 385,000 and just eight per cent. This is the ordinary geography of a mill town, not big-city-style segregation, but a centre that pulls the average down and detached-house areas that pull it up. The education level is clearly below the national average, reflecting that jobs here have traditionally been found on the factory floor rather than in the office.
