Some fifteen restaurants, a couple of cafés, a cinema and a bookshop, plus grocery shops for daily needs. If you want to be active there is a swimming pool, gyms and a small ski centre, and down by Vänern there is a handful of campsites and guest harbours. A couple of small museums and the viewpoints up in the Åmål hills are among the things to see. The share with low economic standard, 18 per cent, is clearly above the national average, and unemployment of just over six and a half per cent is among the higher levels in the country. In Åmål norra, median income is just under SEK 356,000, in Åmål centrum östra only SEK 252,000, and that same eastern centre has both the municipality's lowest level of education and a third of households with low economic standard.
