All of this buzzes during the season and goes quieter once the visitors have gone home. Most of it is in Lysekil's urban area. On Skaftö and in Brastad there is enough for the essentials, and a car helps if you live a bit further out. This also comes with a recurring complaint: there is too little for young people to do, and the question of what teenagers are actually supposed to do outside the season has been raised more than once."},{"type":"p","text":"Safety deserves an extra paragraph, because the picture is mixed. Many feel that things have become more unruly, with more fights, a closed-down police station and women reluctant to go out alone after dark. A handful of notable incidents, a fight between pensioners and a group of youths and a local list of suspected drug buyers that circulated around the town, have stuck in people's memory. At the same time the statistics contradict the gloomiest picture. The number of reported crimes, around 7,900 per 100,000 residents (2025), is clearly below the national average, and the municipality has no areas on the police's list of vulnerable areas. It is no contradiction that a small town can feel unsafe even though the figures are low.
