The median income is clearly above the average for the country's municipalities, and the share with a tight economy is actually below the national average. Lilla Edet is therefore not a distinctly poor municipality in the figures. The education level is low, however, with a share of university graduates below the national average. In Lilla Edet norra and södra incomes are lowest and university graduates fewest, while rural areas such as Nygård-Tunge-Prässebo and Lödöse pull up both income and education. Lilla Edet is one of the few places along the route between Gothenburg and Trollhättan without a really convenient train connection, which has probably held back the inflow of highly educated residents. The train station is in Lödöse södra, some way outside the main town, and the bus into Gothenburg takes around an hour. By car both Gothenburg and Trollhättan are close, and nature is a concrete advantage, with lakes, fishing and a large number of nature reserves round about, such as the Svartedalen wilderness. The Essity factory leaves its mark but worries people less than you might think. It is a paper products factory rather than a pulp mill, and most people notice no smell, although it can vary with the wind."},{"type":"p","text":"The local range on offer, however, is thin. Just a handful of restaurants and pizzerias, a few cafés and a single pharmacy. There is no real centre to gravitate towards here, and for shopping, entertainment and a broader cultural scene, people drive into Gothenburg or Trollhättan. What is nonetheless worth mentioning is Lödöse, one of Sweden's oldest settlements with medieval roots and its own museum, along with manor house settings such as Thorskogs slott.
