In the north, almost everyone who commutes from Östervåla heads towards Uppsala, the area has for decades wanted to switch municipal allegiance there, and the feeling that the northern part comes last when money is shared out runs deep. In the south it sounds brighter. Within the municipality the differences run counter to the usual urban pattern, since it is the surrounding countryside that earns the most.
