Centrala Sundbyberg är tätare, livligare och mer stad än jämförbara förorter, en plats med omedelbar karaktär. Här finns ett åttiotal restauranger, ett par dussin caféer, biograf i Bio Bristol och eget bibliotek, och kring Signalfabriken och torgen ligger butiker, gym och hotell. Marabouparken med konsthall är ett eget dragplåster, och den gröna ringen kring Lötsjön och Golfängarna ger plats att röra sig. Den kärleksfulla rivaliteten med grannen Solna är ett återkommande skämt, liksom påpekandet att kommunalskatten är högre på Sundbybergssidan."},{"type":"p","text":"Baksidan är priset och trängseln. Rissne klassas i polisens lägesbild 2025 som utsatt område. Om Rissne går åsikterna isär, en del beskriver det som lugnare än sitt rykte, andra räknar upp det bland områden de skulle välja bort. Om Hallonbergen, miljonprogramsområdet där kommunens stadshus faktiskt ligger, är tonen lika kluven. En inflyttande barnfamilj kan få både lugnande besked om en välfungerande vardag med bra kommunikationer och gott om barnfamiljer, och varningar om öppen droghandel vid tunnelbanestationen och rådet att välja förskola medvetet. Samtidigt håller mycket av det offentligt finansierade hög klass, och Solnaföräldrar sätter oftare sina barn i Sundbybergs skolor än tvärtom. Commuter trains, the underground, the tram and regional trains all meet here, and you are at Odenplan and T-Centralen within minutes, with easy access to the workplaces in Kista too. Central Sundbyberg is denser, livelier and more urban than comparable suburbs, a place with immediate character. There are around eighty restaurants here, a couple of dozen cafés, a cinema at Bio Bristol and its own library, and around Signalfabriken and the squares there are shops, gyms and hotels. Marabouparken with its art gallery is an attraction in its own right, and the green ring around Lake Lötsjön and Golfängarna gives room to move. The affectionate rivalry with neighbouring Solna is a recurring joke, as is the observation that the municipal tax is higher on the Sundbyberg side."},{"type":"p","text":"The downside is the price and the crowding. Sundbyberg is priced according to its popularity, small one bedroom flats whose bidding wars run far above the asking price, and anyone wanting space for their money often looks elsewhere. The densification causes irritation, new buildings go up so close together that the view can easily become the neighbouring building's facade. Anyone working south of Stockholm finds the location awkward. Reported crimes stand at just over 14,000 per 100,000 residents (2025), against just under 12,000 nationally, among the highest levels in the country. The figure should be read with some caution, crimes are registered where they are committed, and a dense commuter municipality where many people pass through pulls up the statistics. Rissne is classed in the police's 2025 situation report as a vulnerable area. Opinions on Rissne diverge, some describe it as calmer than its reputation, others list it among the areas they would rule out. On Hallonbergen, the large scale housing estate area where the municipality's town hall is actually located, the tone is just as divided. A family with children moving in might get both reassuring reports of a well functioning everyday life with good transport links and plenty of families with children, and warnings about open drug dealing near the underground station and advice to choose a preschool deliberately. At the same time, much of what is publicly funded is of a high standard, and parents from Solna more often place their children in Sundbyberg's schools than the other way round.
