Yes, it is poorer and more worn than the inner city, with more petty crime and a visible gang presence, and evenings can feel a little dodgy. But the vast majority live entirely undramatic lives, and local pride is strong. When someone calls Botkyrka the country's worst municipality, the reaction is mostly a shrug. It has been said before.
