The Görväln nature reserve with bathing and a manor house by Lake Mälaren, the Gåseborg hillfort and the walking trails are close by, and the municipality is unusually green for being so densely populated. At Barkarby and in Jakobsberg there are several shopping centres, around thirty grocery shops in total, about ten gyms, a cinema in Kallhäll, several libraries and a wide restaurant range with well over fifty places. Median income is clearly above the national average, and a third of residents have a longer higher education. At the same time, unemployment is higher than in most of the country's municipalities, the typical big-city profile where high incomes and exclusion fit within the same municipal boundary. Reported crimes per resident are among the highest in the country, which should partly be read against the fact that crimes are registered where they are committed and that large shopping destinations draw reports from the whole region. But not everything can be explained away.
